Have i been told rite.

The apexi power fc on the gtir is useless with the commander.

I have been told that you can only view the information on the commander, You cant change any of the settings without a laptop.

The Power fc is certainly not useless with the commander.....you can make adustments to the map etc albeit not to the extent as you can with a lap top.

The lap top/software allows to view more information on the screen.

I was told by hiteq (IAN) that the apexi never made a power fc for the rnn14 GTI-R. So a sertain company convert them to work on the GTI-R that is why these power fc are so exspensive for the GTI-R and Ian said the commander does nothing so i think you should look more into it. As crag said you can veiw the power fc but you can not do nuch so catch 22 do you want a commander for £200 £300 just to look at or buy a laptop. This is why you can pick up a power fc with commander for a gtr SKYLINE ror £600 and just the power fc are £700 for the GTI-R

You sure Iain said that ?. Would say he knows his stuff but to say the
commander does nothing is to be honest, b0ll0x.
You can deffo make changes but with the laptop, you can do so much
more (Datalogit / wideband sensor). But your right, the company that
modify these units are called A.P Engineering. Speak to Rishi or Mattygtir
as i think they can get the unit + commander for around £750 or
thereabouts.

No mate, youve been told wrong.

The power f.c is fully programmable with the controller, BUT

  1. If you view/map the car with the controller, you have to keep scrolling along the screen to see the info, where on a laptop, you see all the info (bigger screen)
  2. You also need a laptop if you want to map the car using datlogit and to map using a wideband lambda sensor.

So, you can map the car if you can be arsed to scroll through the rev ranges using the hand controller. But it is more convenient for the mapper to use a laptop

APEXi didn't make a PowerFC specifically for the GTiR...  A.P Engineering moddify and supply the RNN14 Specific version... 

2 are available:-

STD - Fuel Cut - Cuts Fuel as a rev limiter...  Not so safe

PRO - Rev Cut - uses a proper rev cut and so uses this feature for a launch control

The PowerFC works without the Commander...  However there are things - sensor readings -  that the Commander displays on screen that the DataLogit software doesn't that some people like to view for mapping purposes...

Its more the monitoring that some mappers like to see when correcting things like cold start and idles...
